Our Ongoing Work in Moldova

Moldova faces a complex array of challenges that underscore the need for targeted interventions across different thematic areas. The country is highly vulnerable to natural disasters, yet lacks sufficient infrastructure and public awareness to respond effectively. Gender-based violence remains a critical issue with high rates of domestic abuse and limited access to reproductive health and protection services, especially for marginalized groups such as Roma women, the elderly and women with disabilities. Additionally, Moldova’s democratic processes are overshadowed by disinformation and low voter confidence.

Commit Global is dedicated to empowering communities and cultivating resilience through innovative digital solutions that enhance disaster response capabilities, provide vital resources for protection and support free and fair elections. These solutions address preparedness, health and safety and transparency. Commit Global partners with local organizations to ensure that these interventions are both impactful and sustainable.

Women Center

Moldova is committed both domestically and internationally to advancing women's empowerment and gender equality by offering essential resources regarding reproductive health, domestic violence prevention and support services. These include greater access to information, legal assistance, counseling and shelter to support vulnerable women. At the same time, Moldova continues to face high rates of violence against women and girls, including sexual and domestic abuse, alongside systemic gaps in protection for elderly women, Roma women and women with disabilities.

Originally developed in Romania in collaboration with the FILIA Center, ANAIS Association and the Independent Midwives Association of Romania, Women Center addresses the urgent need for improved access to essential resources and services. The platform provides specialized information and support for reproductive health and services dedicated to combating gender-based violence. Commit Global is exploring partnership opportunities to implement a localized version of Women Center with the local organization AO Help, an organization committed to delivering comprehensive support and protection to vulnerable groups, including victims of trafficking, domestic violence and other forms of exploitation or abuse.

Election Support

-

2024 was a busy for elections across Europe, particularly with the EU Parliamentary Elections taking place in all EU member states. While Moldova did not participate directly in these elections, Commit Global was active in the country through partnership with Promo Lex to observe Romanian diaspora voting for Romanian candidates. Using the Vote Monitor tool, Promo Lex successfully monitored these elections, ensuring transparency and accountability in the voting process.

Vote Monitor is a tool dedicated to NGOs and INGOs that engage in election monitoring with independent election observers. This digital solution has two components, a web dashboard for NGO representatives and a mobile app (iOS and Android) for independent observers. The app helps commissioned observers report back to their respective NGOs throughout the election day. The web version is a platform for NGO representatives that centralizes real-time information sent by their respective observers.
