Mexico
Our Ongoing Work in Mexico
Mexico is a hotspot for refugees, asylum-seekers and migrants who attempt to cross the border to the United States each day in search of safety. The journey through Central America into Mexico is widely regarded as one of the most perilous migration routes globally. There are numerous risks, including exposure to gang violence, torture, persecution, sexual and gender-based violence, human trafficking, exploitation, forced recruitment, environmental hazards and transportation dangers. Services in border towns of Mexico are limited with millions in need of medical, psychological and social support. Children, women and LGBTQIA+ community face specific barriers in access to basic necessities such as shelter, education and protection.
Mexico is also home to various natural disasters, including floods, drought, earthquakes, tsunamis, landslides, volcanic eruptions and meteorological hazards. These have intensified food insecurity and malnutrition. In light of these multifaceted challenges, Commit Global conducted a field research in Mexico in 2024 to understand the local insights better and based on the findings and analysis of the situation, Commit Global started to actively deploy solutions addressing the immediate needs of affected communities and fostering their long-term resilience and recovery.

Disaster Relief Management
Commit Global is currently in the discovery phase, working closely with colleagues in the field from Centro 32, Espacio Migrante, Movimiento Juventud 2000 and the ZEITGEISTprogram, all of which offer support to refugees. The current stage of collaboration focuses on assessment of existing tools to identify potential gaps and explore pathways for developing or enhancing an already existing sustainable, impactful digital infrastructure.
In Mexico, Commit Global seeks to create a series of disaster relief management platforms tailored to the unique challenges faced by displaced communities. These platforms aim to facilitate rapid response, improve coordination among stakeholders and ensure the effective allocation of critical resources during emergencies. By integrating real-time data collection, advanced reporting mechanisms and user-friendly interfaces, Commit Global will empower organizations to streamline their workflows and provide timely, life-saving support to those in need.

Humanitarian Fellowship Program
Humanitarian Fellowship
The intersection of technology and humanitarian efforts presents immense potential for transformative impact. However, many tools lack elements of user-centric and trauma-informed design, limiting their accessibility and effectiveness in diverse cultural and operational contexts, but also creating a renewed sense of vulnerability and disempowerment.
Commit Global is spearheading the development of a Global Humanitarian Fellowship Program in collaboration with leading universities across Mexico and the Americas. This initiative seeks to cultivate a new generation of humanitarian UX designers equipped to address complex challenges and create impactful solutions in the global humanitarian sector. The program aspires to develop expertise in empathy, accessibility and inclusivity, encourage creative problem-solving and create a network of designers from diverse backgrounds.
The outcome of this program will be a strengthened pool of professionals who can contribute to and lead the design of open-source, scalable and impactful humanitarian solutions. This program will accelerate Commit Global’s efforts in empowering talented individuals with the tools, knowledge, and networks they need to create a more inclusive and resilient future for all.
Program Key Features
Empathy-Driven Design: Prioritizing accessibility, inclusivity, and trauma-informed approaches to create impactful humanitarian solutions.
Talent Development & Creative Problem-Solving: Equipping a diverse new generation of UX designers with the skills to address complex global challenges
Collaborative Network: Partnering with universities across Mexico and the Americas to build a global community of professionals dedicated to open-source, scalable tools.
