EMBRACE: Empowering business communities to prevent labour trafficking
Started September 2025, EMBRACE is a two-year EU-funded initiative that aims to prevent labour trafficking and exploitation by strengthening systemic responses and preventive measures from a business and human rights perspective. The project focuses on high-risk sectors and works across four EU Member States (Bulgaria, Greece, Italy, and Poland) with additional expertise from Finland and the Netherlands.
At its core, EMBRACE develops Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for businesses, helping them proactively prevent, identify, and respond to labour trafficking in supply chains. Alongside these tools, the project pilots preventive actions, supports civil society organizations in protecting migrants from exploitative recruitment, trains labour inspectors, and raises awareness among the public and migrant communities. An online grievance platform will also empower consumers, workers, and migrants to report suspected cases of trafficking, ensuring greater transparency and accountability in the private sector.

Our role
Within EMBRACE, Commit Global (CG) leads the development of the Online Grievance Platform, a secure and accessible digital tool that allows migrants, workers, consumers, and civil society organizations to report suspected labour trafficking cases. Commit Global is responsible for the platform’s design, technical development, and pilot testing in Greece, Bulgaria, and Poland.
Our focus is on ensuring that the platform reflects the realities and needs of users: from migrants’ literacy levels and cultural contexts to the case management processes of support organizations. By combining user-centered design with robust data protection and interoperability, Commit Global is building a sustainable tool that strengthens accountability, empowers victims and stakeholders, and contributes to long-term systemic change in combating labour trafficking.
Ons lopend werk in Nederland
Nederland heeft een speciale betekenis voor Commit Global, aangezien het de thuisbasis is van ons hoofdkantoor in Den Haag, de stad van vrede en recht. Als internationale NGO die zich inzet voor het gebruik van technologie voor sociaal welzijn, zijn we trots om Den Haag onze gaststad te noemen. Commit Global is ontstaan als een internationale spin-off van Code for Romania, en onze reis van Roemenië naar Nederland heeft onze wereldwijde missie en impact versterkt.
Bouwend op de basis van Code for Romania, een organisatie die bekend staat om het bevorderen van digitale oplossingen, heeft Commit Global zich gepositioneerd als wereldleider in civiele technologie. Met meer dan acht jaar ervaring in het creëren van gebruiksvriendelijke platforms en applicaties, pakt Commit Global de meest urgente uitdagingen aan waarmee kwetsbare gemeenschappen wereldwijd worden geconfronteerd. Ontworpen en getest in samenwerking met specialisten, lokale partners, overheidsorganisaties en maatschappelijke belanghebbenden, versterken de oplossingen van Commit Global maatschappelijke organisaties, vergroten ze hun impact en bevorderen ze betekenisvolle samenwerking.
Commit Global opereert wereldwijd met teams die zijn gestationeerd in Roemenië, Nederland en België, waarbij Nederland een hoeksteen is van de operaties van Commit Global. Gevestigd in Den Haag, de stad van vrede en recht, wordt het werk van Commit Global gedreven door de geest van innovatie en de toewijding aan sociale verantwoordelijkheid in de dagelijkse inspanningen. Commit Global bouwt momenteel sterkere banden binnen het Nederlandse ecosysteem door actief kennisdeling-sessies te organiseren en samenwerkingen na te streven waar strategische doelen overeenkomen.
