Access to support can mean the difference between safety and continued abuse. Yet for many people experiencing domestic violence, finding help is anything but straightforward. Information is often fragmented across multiple websites, institutions and organizations, making it difficult to know where to turn. All the more so in moments of crisis, when every minute matters. Survivors shouldn’t have to navigate through a maze to find safety. They require clear, reliable and accessible information that can guide them in their moment of need.
This is why we created VD Hub, an online platform designed to bring together all the essential resources related to domestic violence in one place. Rather than building a one-off solution, we developed a reusable digital product that can be adapted and deployed anywhere it is needed. The first implementation launched in Romania in 2025, following extensive research and close collaboration with professionals and organizations working in the field. But the need it addresses is universal, and the platform was built with replication in mind, making it easy for other countries and communities to adopt and adapt it to their own support ecosystems.

Through its simple and intuitive design, VD Hub helps both survivors of domestic violence and the professionals and organizations that support them quickly find the information they need, based on their specific circumstances.
The platform brings together four essential types of resources:
A directory of services
for survivors of domestic violence, accessible either by country or through a dedicated decision tree that guides users to the most relevant support depending on their situation.
A directory of support organizations
including nongovernmental organizations providing social services and assistance for survivors of domestic violence and/or human trafficking, as well as relevant public institutions and their contact details.
A dedicated emergency section
mapping essential helplines: their contact numbers, operating hours, service providers and the types of support their offer.
A library of articles, guides and educational resources
that explain what domestic violence is, how to recognize its different forms and what support options are available.
Beyond providing practical support, in 2026 VD Hub was accompanied by a powerful public awareness campaign designed to challenge one of the most deeply rooted yet often overlooked forms of domestic violence: the normalization of abuse as a method of discipline.
At the heart of the campaign was the exhibition „Obiecte din Patrimoniul Corecțional” (Objects from the Correctional Heritage), a though-provoking installation that confronted audiences with one of the most harmful legacies passed down through generations: the tradition of abuse, often disguised as discipline, education or ”correcting” the behavior of the child.
The exhibition recontextualized eight ordinary household objects that, for many people, carry painful memories rather as well as nostalgic associations. Common items such as the wooden spoon, leather belt, ruler, walnut shells, twig broom, rubber overshoe, carpet beater and whip were presented not as everyday tools, but as instruments of punishment that became symbols of fear, violence and control. By revealing the hidden stories attached to these familiar objects, the exhibition exposed how violence has long been justified in the name of care, love or education, becoming a pattern that is unconsciously inherited across generations.
Rather than preserving this ”heritage”, ”Obiecte din Patrimoniul Corecțional” and its accompanying social media campaign called for breaking the cycle. It invited the public to recognize how everyday violence becomes normalized and how harmful traditions can only be interrupted by acknowledging them.
The exhibition was supported by a broader, three-month communication campaign that included radio spots and digital advertising across Facebook, Instagram and TikTok, helping bring the conversation about domestic violence to a wider audience and encouraging people to seek information and support through VD Hub.
